1884 is the founding of Sotirio Bulgari’s jewellery shop in Rome. The house has operated continuously as a jeweller but only became a watchmaker in the 1970s and 1980s: the Bulgari Bulgari watch appeared in 1977 and the Swiss subsidiary Bulgari Time was set up in Neuchâtel in 1980. LVMH acquired Bulgari in 2011.
