Privacy
Watch Historian is an informational site. It sells nothing, has no user accounts and asks for as little as it can. This page says what little it does collect, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 1 October 2026.
Who is responsible
The site is operated as Watch Historian (watchhistorian.com), which is the data controller for anything described here. For any question about your data, write to info@watchhistorian.com.
What is collected, and why
Server logs. The site is hosted on Namecheap’s EasyWP service. Like every web server, it records the IP address, the page requested, the time, and the browser type for each request. These logs are used only to keep the site running and secure, and are kept by the host for a short period. Legal basis: legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
Analytics. None at present: no visitor statistics are collected and no analytics cookies are set. If analytics are added later, they will run only after you accept them in the cookie banner, this page will say so, and you will be able to withdraw that consent from the banner’s settings at any time.
The correction form. Every milestone page has a “Suggest a correction” form. It asks for your name, an optional e-mail address, and your note. The note is sent by e-mail to the editor and stored in the site’s database (in the Flamingo plugin) so that it can be checked and acted on. It is never published, and the e-mail address is used only to reply to you about that note, if you gave one. Notes are deleted once the correction has been reviewed, and at the latest twelve months after they were sent. Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the records accurate, and your consent in sending the form.
Fonts. The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers, which see your IP address in that request. No cookies are set by this.
Cookies. The site itself sets no cookies apart from the one that remembers your choice in the cookie banner. What else may be set, and by whom, is listed in the cookie policy.
What is not done
No data is sold or passed on for advertising. There are no advertisements, no newsletter, no accounts and no profiling. Photographs and content are served from this site’s own host, not from third-party embeds.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, and under Turkey’s KVKK where it applies, you can ask what data is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to its processing, or ask for a copy. For a note you sent through the correction form, an e-mail to info@watchhistorian.com is enough; it will be deleted on request. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
Children
The site is not aimed at children and knowingly collects nothing from them.
Changes
If the way data is handled changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it.
