Founded 1946  ·  Japan
Group
Casio Computer Co., Ltd., listed in Tokyo.
Headquarters
Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.
Founded
1946, by Tadao Kashio as a workshop in Tokyo; the first watch, the Casiotron, came in 1974.
Known for
G-Shock (1983), Edifice, Pro Trek, Oceanus, the Vintage digitals (A158, F-91W).

1946 is the founding of Kashio Seisakujo, Tadao Kashio’s small Tokyo workshop, which became Casio Computer Co., Ltd. in 1957 as a maker of calculators. Casio only entered watchmaking in 1974 with the Casiotron digital watch, so the date marks the parent company, not a watch business. It has operated continuously and remains an independent, listed Japanese company.
