1845 is the founding of Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s workshop in Glashütte, Saxony. The factory was bombed on the last day of the war in 1945 and the firm was expropriated by the East German authorities in 1948 and merged into the state combine in 1951, so the Lange name disappeared for more than forty years. Walter Lange re-founded the company on 7 December 1990 with Günter Blümlein’s LMH group and presented the first new watches in 1994; Richemont acquired it in 2000.
